Easy Rider and Chopperguy

I went for a sweet ride today.

Filled the '73 up with gas, started heading for the veggie stand, then said, "Fuck it. Food can wait."

As I went from Portland into Clackamas, some jerk in a little foreign sports car pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes to try and make the entrance ramp to the highway. I lay on my brakes, come to an abrupt stop, and killed the engine in the process. Reminded me of the opening scene in Wild Angels. Heavenly Blues kills his bike stopping for some kid on a trike who has ridden out in front of him. Seems to me like the mindset has a lot of similarities. Obliviously self-centered, in their own little worlds. Unlike Blues, I did not proceed to light up a joint. Just gave the bike a couple of kicks and took off again. Gots to get away from the main drag.

Hit some backroads and got a beautiful view of Mt. Hood surrounded by farmland and trees. Couldn't tell you any of the roads I took. I just rode. "Oblivious Man" faded into ancient history. Even the heavy traffic coming back into town couldn't bring me down. Went to the veggie stand to get something to go with my steak tonight. Will grill up some kabobs and drink some beer. A good day.

Should do that more often. Best ride of the summer.
