Thoughts on Easy Rider, biker cinema, and riding and working on a vintage chopper.
Have you always wanted your very own Captain America replica but just could bring your self to pump all of that time, energy, and money into the project? Maybe this
Pocket Chopper of Captain America would fit the bill. And
this one could probably make a decent Billy Bike with a few modifications.
Thought I would throw in a quick note about my adventure last weekend.
On Sunday I decided that the tank had gotten a little low on the chopper. So that I wouldn't have to worry about it later in the week if I decided to go for a ride, I started her up and headed off to the station. On the way there, she started to sputter. Luckily she did this just in time for me to take an exit ramp. As soon as I hit the ramp, she ran out of gas. I pushed her UP the clover leaf and then another quarter mile to the gas station. Glad I tried to keep her light when building her.
Now for the rant. While pushing her down the street, several motorcyclists passed me. I saw sport bikes, cruisers, and tourers. I saw bikes from Japan, Europe, and even a couple of American ones. None of them stopped. None of them pulled over to see if I had the situation under control as I pushed my vintage chopper down the road. I can't believe that all of these people had somewhere important to get to late Sunday morning. As I pushed my bike into the gas station, two guys who had passed me on their crotch rockects sat at the pumps filling up. As most of you could probably guess, I don't like sport bikes. Not my thing. I also don't much care for Japanese bikes. While they have made some well engineered bikes, they just don't seem to create anything with a soul. I have my opinions on the matter. My dislike for these bikes would not keep me from pulling over to help out a guy having trouble with his Ninja. Those jerks need to go find a soul.
OK, enough ranting for now. 93 y'all.
I happened across this article on film restoration that includes several comments on
Easy Rider's film restoration. For all of you out there who have enjoyed
Easy Rider on DVD, you should check out this article on how they made it possible.
I have more of a rant than anything today. No news of Easy Rider stuff, just me getting slightly upset at something that has happened continually over the last several years. The
Easy Rider Movie site has one section which will link you to items for sale of possible interest to Easy Rider fans. The Biker Movies section will link you to where you can purchase the movies listed. No subscriptions. No banner ads. No pop-up ads. I promise fans of my site that I will never charge a subscription fee for this site no matter how popular it gets. At one time the site had gotten so popular that it wold get shut down for excessive traffic for about a week each month. I did some redesign work and solved that issue without having to spend any more money than I already pay for my general service. You will never see ads on my site. Nobody pays attention to them. They litter our web experience the way bill boards litter our road experience. I just want to do my part to beautify the world.
Time to get the chop on some two lane blacktop and try to avoid the media bombardment. Have a great weekend everybody.
